Category The work is complete and supported by meaningful and relevant evidence The work is mostly good, but it’s either incomplete or has minor mistakes The work has major mistakes, or several key parts are missing There is no work, or the work violates the laws of nature as we know it
Experimental Protocol 50 points

This section meets all of the following requirements:

  • the experiment is described in sufficient detail for another person to perform the experiment without help
  • all the equipment is utilized
  • all required amounts of chemicals are included
  • areas for observation and data collection are marked
 40 points

This section is missing 1 of the requirements.

 20 points

This section is missing 2 of the requirements.

 0 points

This section is missing. Without this section the student will not be allowed to perform the experiment and will receive a 0 on the lab report.
Chemical Table 25 points

The table contains all of the following:

  • chemical name
  • chemical formula
  • hazards
  • personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • references (link to MSDS document)
 20 points

The table is mostly complete missing only 1 of the requirements.

 10 points

The table is missing 2 of the requirements.

 0 points

The table is missing 3 or more of the requirements.
Equipment Table 25 points

The table contains all of the following for each equipment:

  • name of equipment
  • picture of equipment
  • purpose for the equipment in the experiment
 20 points

The table is missing 1-2 items from the list or 1 of the requirements.

 10 points

The table is missing multiple items or 2 of the requirements.

 0 points

The table is missing.
